The 2014 vintage is a special one at Mayacamas as we celebrate 125 years of winemaking on the incredible estate. The Mayacamas 2014 is one of the finest Chardonnays produced to date, a perfect wine to mark this special occasion. This bottling is all about the intersection of freshness, precision and power. Delicate, detailed aromas of pear skin, honeysuckle, wet slate and vanilla bean unfold in the glass and deepen with air. On the palate, the wine is at once rich and very focused – dominated at first by mouthwatering acidity and stony minerality, then broadening into generous flavors of lemon curd and green pistachio. The 2014 vintage was the team’s second as winemakers of Mayacamas, but the winemaking style remains much the same as in years past. After fermentation in a combination of neutral wood and stainless steel, the 2014 Chardonnay spent 12 months in barrique, less than 10% of which was new. The wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation.
