2010 Chateau Faugeres Saint-Emilion
2010 Chateau Faugeres Saint-Emilion The 2010 vintage for Bordeaux is one of the all-time greats rivalling 2000, 82, 61 and 1945. Unfortunately with these great vintages we never get to enjoy them when are peaking, drinking to perfection, never mind purchase and at a reasonable. We have secured the 2010 Chateau Faugeres straight from the cellars of Bordeaux that has great press and will blow you away with drinking pleasure this fall and winter ahead. Chateau Fugeres has gone from strength to strength when it was purchased by owner/art collector/entrepreneur Silvio Denz and ever since then has become one of the top performers of the eastern sector of St Emilion. He employed the great Michel Rolland to make the wine and great Stephan von Neipperg to manage the vineyards, we are talking dream team. The cellars were designed by Mario Botta, vines are 45 years of age on the St Emilion plateau south facing in clay and limestone soils. All this means is excellent raw materials for great wine. Nothing is better than excellent Bordeaux that happens to be a great value, that’s from a great vintage and has had time in the bottle to show itself in all its glory. I strongly recommend.
2010 Chateau Faugeres Saint-Emilion Full, bright medium ruby. Super ripe aromas of dark fruits, mocha, truffle and chocolatey oak. Full, broad and concentrated; quite plush but good energy keeps if from coming off as heavy. Sexy flavors of black raspberry, toffee and mocha are layered and deep. Finishes with serious but sweet and thoroughly ripe tannins that saturate the cheeks. This has much more stuffing and spine to support aging than the regular Faugeres bottling: in fact, I’d give it five years in the cellar to absorb some of its oak and shed some baby fat.
