The vineyards of Château La Commanderie essentially consist of two plots, one adjoining Château Montrose, the other located on a gravely slope opposite the famous Château Lafite-Rothschild. Since 1956, the estate has been in the hands of the Meffre family, which also owns other vineyards in Pauillac and Saint Julien. The wine is a roughly 55/40/5 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. It has a round, powerful bouquet that blossoms into a full-bodied mid palate with a fine expression of dark fruit. This is a clean, chewy wine backed by lovely tannins with all the promise of a good cellaring potential.
