2016 DEHLINGER WINERY PINOT NOIR ALTAMONT 750ML
94pts Vinous 10 cases available
I was deeply impressed with the wines I tasted with Eva and Carmen Dehlinger this year. The 2016 Pinots are just as compelling as they were last year. The 2016 Pinot Noir Altamont is a dense, beautifully resonant wine. Next to the Goldridge, the Altamont has quite a bit more textural depth and overall intensity. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, rose petal, mint and blood orange all run through this expressive, pliant Pinot Noir. The 2016 Pinot Noir Altamont, which comes from the hilltop parcels spread across the family’s 45 acres of estate vineyards, is a smaller production cuvée. It offers more intensity, plenty of black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, with hints of licorice, underbrush and forest floor. It is round, juicy, full-bodied, and again, very pure. Drink it over the next 15+ years.
