Clean mid red, Clous des Mouches is usually the first red to be picked at Domaine Berthelemot. it shows an elegant nose, then tighter on the palate, with cherry and raspberry fruit, but firmer, less sucrosity and with a good persistence of flavor.
Taste; The grapes from the two different altitudes balance to give a round and elegant wine with an aroma of ripe red berries, full-bodied and velvety on the palate.

Le Clos des Mouches is one of Beaune’s most highly respected Premier Cru vineyards, planted to both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Several of Burgundy’s top domaines and negociants own parcels within the 25-hectare (60-acre) property. Drouhin dominates with a 14ha (35-acre) chunk. Wines of either color are held in high regard. Clos de Mouches Premier Cru wines are generally quite rich and complex, the white wines exhibiting a minerally edge and the reds giving a spicy, earthy character.The site is at the very southern end of the commune, at the boundary with neighboring Pommard. The equally well-regarded Les Montrevenots vineyard lies above it and to the northwest. In medieval French, “les mouches”‘ meant bees.The southeast facing slope takes a lot of sun that attract flowers and bees.
