2020 Rene Rostaing Cote Rotie La Landonne
2020 Rene Rostaing Cote Rotie La Landonne Pure fruit flavours. Leather, purple flowers, floral notes, cherries, chocolate. I definitely can pick up Viognier here in the floral notes.
96 Robert Parker: Reasonably floral and red-fruited at the moment, the 2020 Cote Rotie la Landonne may not have the richness and power of the very best vintages, but it’s still a terrific wine. Tasted as a barrel sample drawn just hours earlier, in addition to those violets and raspberries, it’s also marked by the vineyard’s characteristic dark notes of roasted meat, black olives and espresso, ample tannins and a long, silky-textured finish. It was the end of a long Sunday of winery visits when I slumped into Le Beau Rivage in Condrieu to meet Pierre Rostaing for dinner (and a few more wines). Since I hadn’t been able to visit the winery, he brought some representative blends of wines still in barrel, plus a few other treats to taste, but we didn’t cover the full range of wines this year.
