2020 Maso Poli Pinot Grigio
2020 Maso Poli Pinot Grigio This 2020 wine presents a rather pale, ruby red colour, while at the same time it is warm and lively. The flagrance is intense, fine and well defined. This gem from Italy bears a hint of wild fruit, and in particular black currants. The flavour is dry with a delicate bitterish after-taste.
The history of Maso Grener began in the Seventies, when we met while studying at the Agricultural Institute of San Michele all’Adige, in Trentino.
We both share the farmers DNA, since our families have both a long tradition in the winemaking sector. Cinzia’s family has been growing vines in the hills surrounding Trento since the sixteenth century, while at the end of the nineteenth century Fausto’s great-grandfather was a wine merchant working in Faver, within the Cembra Valley.
After fiishingour studies in enology, we both started working in the in the wine sector, maintaining our professional and private relationship, which culminated in our marriage in 1994, followed by the birth of our two daughters Sonia and Elena.
A ”maso” is a typical rural farm, with a farmhouse made of stone and with its adjointing lands. It is where the Trentino civilization and culture have their deepest roots and are synonymous for precious lands taken from the mountaind, a region of fields, valleys, vineyards and mountains. Life here goes at its own rhythm. Everything is in symbiosis: Nature, farming, grape-growing, work, family. Maso, owned by the Togn family, embodies all of this: here we have an old 18th century ”maso” that has been recently renovated in full respect of local landscape but with a new architectural interpretation of its structure.
