Zinfandel (or “Zin”, as it is affectionately known in the United States) is a dark-skinned red wine grape variety widely cultivated in California. It arrived in the Americas from Europe in the early years of the 19th Century, and was an immediate success in both Napa and Sonoma counties, which remain its strongholds today.
Russian River Valley, one of the United States’ top-ranked wine regions, is located at the heart of Sonoma County, California. It is one of California‘s coolest and foggiest AVAs creating a perfect climate for producing highly acclaimed wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Limerick Lane is a 30 acre property located just south of Healdsburg. Like many historic vineyards in the Russian River, it was originally planted in the early 1900’s by Italian immigrants, the Del Fava family, and today is considered one of the top sites for Zinfandel in all of Sonoma County. Jake and Alexis Bilbro are the third family to become shepards of this historic, old vine property planted to mostly Zinfandel and also several mixed black varieties (Alicante Bousche, Petite Sirah, Mourvedre, Syrah, etc…) The Estate Zinfandel is the core of the production along with small amounts of single parcel Zinfandel’s, Syrah’s and a Grenache/Syrah blend The wines from Limerick Lane are unique in that they combine powerful fruit and spice with a energetic core of acidity due to the warm days and cool nights of the area
