2018 Domaine Jobaline Macon Verzey Blanc
2018 Domaine Jobaline Macon Verzey Blanc Harmonious to the palate distinguished by an exotic weave, compact with an elegant finish. Marriages fruit and oak superbly, loved the intensity and the length.
The Domaine de la Jobeline is nestled in the hills of Verze, a small historic village of Maconnais dating back to the 10th century, offering an exceptional terroir. Our estate is located in the heart of Burgundy amongst a typical vineyard landscape of the region and benefits from a cool temperate climate.
We tasted this wine Thursday and one of our Senior Wine Advisors turned round and said ‘Oh yes this is Meursault, how much $60, $70 a bottle. When he heard what we could sell this wine for, he could not believe it. The wine hails from the Southern part of Burgundy, Macon, from the appellation of Verze. This is the land of Pouilly Fuisse and Verze has proven their wines superior and getting their own recognition. The wine is marvelously rich, very pronounced, citrus aromas, marshmallow, and exotic fruits (mango, pineapple, lychee). The great white Burgundy producer Domaine Leflaive makes a Macon Verze that sells for $70 a bottle. This is great terroir for white Burgundy!
White Wine
The white wines that are made in Central Italy are not flashy or famous, but they can certainly be delicious. This area is known for making clean, light, white wines that are refreshing. You will not find many famous grapes grown in this region, but you will find some great values.
Italian white wines can be very frustrating and confusing. They do not make many wines from grapes that most people are familiar with. However, some of the local grapes that are used can make wines that are elegant, refreshing, and fun.
A lot of the really great white wines from Central Italy are going to be simple and light. They do not have a ton of strong fruit flavors, but can often produce subtly beautiful flavors of tart stone fruits, white flowers, and often almonds.
