2018 Condado De Haza Ribera Del Duero
2018 Condado De Haza Ribera Del Duero This red from Condado de Haza was thought of as a more modern style coming from this region in the 1980s however what’s modern today makes this bottling seem quite reserved and balanced in style. Full of black berried fruits, good tannins and still robust but with a good dose of freshness that balances the wine marvelously. From clay-based vineyards that are south facing and located just a km from the Duero river. Aged in oak – 20% of which were new.
This specific grape blend makes these wines very delicious, but their popularity slipped drastically in the 1970s. Extremely long barrel aging and old winemaking practices made the wines extremely inconsistent. Even bottles in the same vintage could be very different. Now, with modern winemaking practices and attention to detail these wines are becoming as consistently incredible as they should be!
