2017 Cuvaison Chardonnay
2017 Cuvaison Chardonnay: Carneros, California
Carneros straddles the southernmost portions of the Sonoma and Napa valleys and lies north of the San Pablo Bay (an offshoot of the San Francisco Bay). Bay winds and fog, created when warm inland air meets cool sea air, keep temperatures relatively low, making this California wine region perfect for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Cuvaison Winery is a Napa Valley estate based in the southernmost subregion, Carneros. The primary varieties cultivated here are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with additional grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc grown at the winery’s Brandlin estate in Mount Veeder. The estate came into the hands of the current owners, the Schmidheiny family from Switzerland, in 1979. They invested heavily in the renewal of the estate and its vineyards
