2016 Mockingbird Blue Label Napa Valley
2016 Mockingbird Blue Label Napa Valley Aromas of plums, dried herbs, black cherry and spice highlight this powerful and full bodied 2016 wine. In addition to powerful fruit the bouquet has both cocoa and spice elements. The wine is just over 80% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance being Merlot. The fruit was grown primarily at the estate vineyard in St Helena with the balance coming from a vineyard in the western hills of Calistoga.
Mockingbird
Mockingbird was created by Tuck Beckstoffer as an expression of the finest California red wine available, period. Having focused many of his other brands on delivering value, this wine delivers all of that and more but on an entirely different scale.
Employing the principles of the lost art of assemblage, Mockingbird is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from three distinct vineyards and appellations. Fruit sourced from the Dr. Crane Vineyard in Saint Helena, the Missouri / Hopper Vineyard in Oakville, and the Melason Ranch on Pritchard Hill is vinified and allowed to age separately. Barrel aged in the finest oak, individual wines are carefully assessed, and thoughtfully blended to create a wine whose expression is derived from the most complementary of each of its parts. 110 cases of the current vintage were produced.
