2016 Domaine Du Grand Tinel Chateauneuf-Du-Pape Cuvee Alexis Establet
2016 Domaine Du Grand Tinel Chateauneuf-Du-Pape Cuvee Alexis Establet Deep ruby. A suave, expansive bouquet evokes ripe red berries, potpourri and smoky minerals, along with a hint of peppery spices in the background. In an elegant yet concentrated style, offering appealingly sweet raspberry and spicecake flavors that show excellent depth as well as finesse. Juicy acidity adds lift and finishing bite to a very long, floral-tinged finish framed by smooth tannins.
The 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Alexis Establet is pure Grenache raised in a combination of foudres, demi-muids and new barriques. It’s a richer, more powerful wine than the regular bottling, weighing in at 16% alcohol, yet it never seems hot, just big, plush and velvety. Subtle notes of cocoa and pencil shavings frame cherry and spice flavors in this seamless blend of fruit and oak. Sexy stuff!
A majestic Châteauneuf-du-Pape, produced with the help of star consultant Philippe Cambie, (named 2010 winemaker of the year by Robert Parker) maker of may 100pt Parker wines from the Southern Rhone . The 100 year-old vines are planted at the northernmost point of the appellation in an area known as La Gardiole, in soils formed from chalky stones and old alluvial deposits. The terroir is reflected in the wine as a combination of the known power of Châteauneuf-du-Pape (a function of the heat retained and reflected by the galets roulés pebbles) and a harmonious elegance and fresh mineral definition characteristic of the northern sector. The 2016 Domaine du Grand Tinel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Alexis Establet is absolutely spectacular, magnificently rich matched with balance and elegance only found in great winemaking, glorious old vines, great terroir and a great vintage. The 2016 vintage received 98pts by Parker’s WA for the vintage equaling the highest rated vintages ever. This is their top Cuvee that has it all in this great vintage. Enjoy
