2015 Chateau Haut Brisson Grand Cru
2015 Chateau Haut Brisson Grand Cru “This is the best Haut-Brisson ever showing ripe dark plums and chocolate on the nose, which is so seductive. The palate is all about the silky tannins and beautiful fruit. Full body, gorgeous fruit and a complex aftertaste. So precise and impressive. Texturally complete. Drink or hold.” – 95 Points – James Suckling
“The 2015 Haut Brisson is powerful, explosive and full of personality. This is an especially dark, brooding St.-Émilion built on full-throttle richness and opulence. But there is also plenty of character, especially for such an intense style. Haut-Brisson is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.” – 93 Points – Antonio Galloni
This one of the greatest values available from Bordeaux. This a definite buy if I ever saw one! The wine received huge score, 95pts Suckling as well 92+pts from all the others, Parker, Vinous, JD et al. The wine comes from the great 2015 vintage, one of the finest in the last 25 years. It received 95pts by Parkers WA rivalling 2005 and 2000. The 2015 Chateau Haut Brisson is an estate on the up as quality soars and demand grows. The Chateau is owned by Hong Kong based Billionaire Peter Kwok who has spared no expense in renovation the Winery and vineyard management. He has put together a great team led by the master Michel Rolland, the leading wine maker on the planet. The vineyard manager and winemaker here is the quite talented Jérôme Aguirre who previously worked at Christine Péré-Vergé’s vineyards in Pomerol (Le Gay, La Violette). This is a rich, powerful inviting St Emilion Grand Cru that is totally undervalued. The wine should be priced double to triple the price and it will be as time marches on.
Haut Brisson’s vineyards average 35 years in age and are planted at 6,000 vines/hectare with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The soils here are a mix of fine gravel and granular, quartz-rich silty soils atop a deep clay subsoil. The vineyards are a stone throw from Chateau Monbouquet. Suckling has declared this wine as the best Haut Brisson ever. This is truly a great wine for the price. Throw in it’s from a great region of Bordeaux in a classic vintage makes this wine an amazing buy and I can tell you spectacular drinking. Will also improve in the cellar. I strongly recommend! This wine has it all!
