Sassicaia, Ornellaia and Solaia are resplendent examples of Super Tuscans and are hugely popular and expensive. Values can be found, especially in stellar vintages like 2015, and we have discovered one of the absolute best. The Arcanum, Valadorna 2015 has been rated 95+ points by Parker and the vintage for the region is one of the all-time greats. The wine is full-bodied, wonderfully supple with integrated tannins, glorious opulent berry fruit and at our price an absolute steal for what’s in the bottle.
Winemaker is tremendous! In honor of its history, the name Arceno comes from the Etruscan word Archè, which means “point of origin”. The estate is located between two rivers: the Ambra, which flows to Florence, and the Ombrone, which flows to the Mediterranean. The Del Taja family purchased the land in 1504 and added architectural improvements. Then, in 1829 the estate was sold to the Piccolominis, one of the most illustrious families of Siena; who created the splendid outdoor structures that still stand today. Today the Winery is owned by the Jackson Family who purchased it in 1994 and is part of their international portfolio. Wines are made by Pierre Seillan who has made wine all over the world. His breakout was the 100pt Parker Bordeaux Blends he made at Verite in California. The wine is drinking gloriously and will age superbly in your cellar. The winery is situated in Berardenga one of the sweets spots of Tuscany and home to other greats like Fontodi and Felsina. With a savings of 37%, a huge 95+ Parker, all-time great vintage makes this is an insane buy and wait till you taste it!
Arceno Arcanum The wine is sourced primarily from the Valadorna and Capraia blocks, which produce the estate’s most complex and mineral-based expressions of this variety. The blocks are located within the cooler part of the estate, naturally irrigated by the stream that undulates through it, and feature sandy brown soils and lower yields than typical. Winery
The 2015 Valadorna (65% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot) is a dark and thickly endowed red wine that boasts a rich and lasting grip on the palate. The bouquet offers depth and complexity with dark fruit, leather, cured tobacco and spice. There are also softer notes of chocolate and ground espresso beans. The wine’s seamless integration of flavors leads to increased momentum and intensity as the wine continues to open in the glass. Rating: 95+

Tenuta di Arceno
The history of Tenuta di Arceno stretches back to the time of the Etruscans who dominated central Italy prior to the formation of the Roman Empire. The first traces of the mysterious and extraordinary Etruscan civilization appear in the 8th century B.C. The Ambra river, which flows to Florence, and the Ombrone river, which flows to the Mediterranean, formed the nucleus of the ancient civilization. Still today these two important rivers flow on either side of the Tenuta di Arceno estate. Located at the historical birthplace of its culture, it is not surprising to find that the word Arceno has as its root, the Etruscan word arché meaning origin point.
According to historians, wine was introduced to the Etruscans by the Greeks around 700 B.C. It soon became widely enjoyed and was even exported to various regions of the Mediterranean after the Etruscans began stopping their wine containers with cork. From this time of beginnings and innovation, a rich history of wine-making tradition was born. Following its growth through the ages, we eventually arrive at the present and the region now known as Tuscany.
The Tenuta di Arceno estate lies in the hills of the Chianti region in central Tuscany between Florence and Siena, near Castelnuovo Berardenga. Tuscany is home to Italy’s most renowned wines.
From its roots in the Etruscan civilization, its ownership by the wealthy and respected Taja family, its sale to one of the most illustrious families of Siena, the Piccolominis, and finally to its acquisition by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke in 1994, the history of Tenuta di Arceno unfolds, long and sinuous in time. The people who live and work there today are only the most recent link to ancient traditions, which should be conserved and respected.
